Research topics
- information processing and computational neuroscience
- coding of sound into nerve-action potentials
- spiking neuronal networks in the auditory brainstem
- biophysics and modelling of sensory organs and neurons
- hearing implants: novel coding strategies, electrical and optical stimulation
- automatic speech recognition using bio-inspired lgorithms.
Scientific approach
- We combine methods from information theory and classification
theory to analyze our models of the
inner ear and our spiking neuronal
networks for speech processing.
- We conduct measurements to
investigate the excitation of auditory neurons in human subjects with
cochlear implants and with neuronal networks cultured on
multi-electrode arrays.
