Research topics

  • perception of spatial orientation and gravity
  • navigation in real and virtual environments
  • vestibular and oculo-motor systems
  • posture, motor control and grip force control

We frequently work with neurological patients suffering from peripheral or central disorders of the vestibular and ocular motor systems.

Scientific approach

  • We use computational and mathematical methods from systems and control theory to analyze and model physiological and

psychophysical data, mostly recorded from humans in our lab, to derive theories on behaviour and perception.

  • Data is acquired using a variety of methods from eye movement recordings to functional magnetic imaging techniques.

Neural data is collected by our collaborators from awake monkeys and frog whole-brain preparations.
